Abstracts
Abstracts are solicited on all the topics related to the conference theme of 16th International Workshop on Micropiles in València.
Please submit an abstract (300 words, in English) for consideration by the Program Committee. For the 16th Workshop, participants are warmly invited to submit full papers, though submission is not mandatory. Presentations may also be delivered without a full paper; however, an abstract submission is required in both cases. All presentations and papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee prior to the workshop.
Submission of an abstract confirms you will accept an invitation to present in person at the Workshop in Valencia. Virtual presentations will not be possible. The Program Committee will review abstract submissions and select abstracts to be presented orally. Presentations will be made in plenary sessions, followed by in-depth discussion.

General information
- All accepted papers will be available on ISM’s website for attendee download as PDF files, prior to the conference.
- Proceedings will be published online and made available to all full conference registrants as part of their registration fee.
- All authors are asked to fully register for the conference by June 30, 2025 .
- The official language of the conference is English; therefore, papers are to be written in English at a publishable standard.
- Material must not be presented for commercial or private advantage and must be free of advertising, speculation, or statements advocating special interests.
Papers or presentations submission
- Authors of approved Abstracts should submit the draft paper using the available paper template.
- Authors of approved Abstracts who are submitting a presentation only (no full paper) should submit the draft presentation. Authors are encouraged to use the available presentation template.
- Deadline for draft papers/presentation submission is Monday, May 5, 2025.
- The Program Committee will send each paper for review.
- The Authors will be informed of the result of the review process by May 26, 2025. Authors should submit the revised paper or presentations by June 30, 2025.
- All authors must submit the final Presentations by September 1, 2025.
Legal Requirements
- All ISM conference authors are asked to complete and sign a Publishing Agreement which is available below.
- All ISM conference speakers are asked to complete and sign a Presentation Release Form which is available below.
Additional tips
- Please use 16:9 (wide) format for your PowerPoint presentation.
- A hallmark of ISM workshops is the discussion and sharing. Please try to leave a few minutes in your presentation for questions and discussion.
- The spirit of ISM is to be technical, and we make every effort to limit commerciality. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us continue our technical focus.
World Cup of Micropiles
The ISM 5th World Cup of Micropiles Competition is being held at the ISM workshop in Valencia, Spain. This is an international competition to seek out a micropile project that stands above all others. Five regions of the globe will compete to bring home the Micropile World Cup. A panel of experts from each region will select one project to represent their region. Authors of each selected project will pick a delegate to present the project during a session at the workshop. The presentation will be a maximum of 20 minutes in length, followed by a short question period. A paper will not be required to accompany the presentation. ISM delegates will vote for the winner during the workshop. The authors of the winning project will receive the Micropile World Cup to keep until the next International Workshop on Micropiles.

- Involves micropiles
- Completed in the last 3 years
- Any project size is eligible
- Innovation, difficult conditions, unique applications will be sought
- Impact on acceptance of micropiles in the region

Lizzi Scholarship
The International Society for Micropiles (ISM) invites applications for the 10th Lizzi Scholarship from graduate students studying in the field of micropiles. Applicants must reside in Spain or Portugal, be enrolled in graduate studies, and be either proposing to conduct or currently conducting research on micropiles. The scholarship award consists of reimbursement of travel and accommodations expenses for attendance at the 16th International Workshop on Micropiles in Valencia, Spain, 24-26 September 2025; complimentary registration; and a selection of micropile publications.
The scholarship recipient is selected by the ISM organizing committee and the host company, Ischebeck Ibérica. The scholarship recipient is required to make a brief presentation outlining his/her proposed or current micropile research at the 2025 workshop.
Applications are due February 28, 2025.
