ISM Launches PRISM Webinar Series with Inaugural Webinar on Bonded Micropile Connections

The International Society for Micropiles (ISM) is launching PRISM Webinars: Reflecting the Best in Micropile Practice, a new webinar series bringing the latest research, innovative approaches and practical solutions to the global micropile community.

The series debuts with “Making Connections: New Approaches to Bonded Micropile-to-Structure Connections” on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET.

The inaugural webinar features Jesús Gómez, Ph.D., P.E., BC.GE, and Helen Robinson, P.E., PMP, BC.GE, of GEI Consultants, who will present the recently published DFI research report, Design Considerations for Bonded Micropile-to-Structure Connections. The report was endorsed by the joint DFI-ADSC Micropile Committee.

The presentation explores a practical design and verification method for bonded micropile-to-existing concrete footing connections. Developed using straightforward design steps, the method enables engineers to assess the available capacity of a proposed connection constructed by directly bonding a micropile to an existing concrete footing.

“PRISM Webinars will provide a forum for sharing the research and real-world expertise that continue to advance micropile practice,” says Mary Ellen Large, P.E., BC.GE, of Geotechnica and executive director of ISM. “We are excited to launch the series with a presentation addressing an important and increasingly relevant connection challenge for designers and practitioners.”

The webinar is designed for professionals involved in the design, evaluation and construction of micropile foundations and will provide insight into an emerging approach for evaluating bonded micropile-to-structure connections.

The webinar is free to attend, and participants will receive 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH).
