Executive Director and Treasurer: Mary Ellen Bruce Large, P.E., BC.GE, Nicholson Construction Company (USA)
Mary Ellen Large proudly serves ISM as executive director and treasurer. She has run ISM as a volunteer for over 25 years to connect micropile enthusiasts around the world and promote efficient use of micropile technologies. With Dr. Donald Bruce, she evolved the group from a series of international workshops into a worldwide nonprofit professional society aimed at sharing technical information and fostering camaraderie and enthusiasm for advancements in micropiles. She has over 35 years of foundation engineering experience, and currently works with U.S.-based geotechnical specialty engineering and construction contractor, Nicholson Construction Company headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,. She holds a B.S. in civil engineering from University of Maryland and an M.S. in geotechnical engineering from Cornell University. She has authored/co-authored technical papers and manuals on micropiles, deep mixing, and ground anchors. ISM is near and dear to her heart, and she welcomes everyone to become involved.
