Special Lecturer Announced for International Society of Micropiles (ISM) 14th International Workshop on Micropiles

The International Society of Micropiles (ISM) is hosting its 14th International Workshop on Micropiles on August 21-23, 2019, at the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach hotel one hour south of Brisbane.

A highlight of the workshop is a presentation by special lecturer Dr. Stephen Buttling. With a career spanning 45 years as a geotechnical engineer working in the U.K., Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Australia, Dr. Buttling has a unique insight into the European and Australasian piling industries. Dr Buttling’s session will focus on his 12 years of experience within the Australian piling industry and will discuss the current status of the Australian piling market with particular reference to State DOT and Australian Standards. With micropiles appearing in Australia in relatively recent time, Dr Buttling will discuss their current place in the market, current applications and the various challenges that face the micropile industry moving forward in the Australian piling industry.

The workshop also includes lectures, discussions and panel sessions on all aspects of micropile technology including:

In addition, the workshop features the 10th annual Lizzi Lecture delivered by Allen W. Cadden, P.E., D.GE, Schnabel Engineering; the presentation of the 8th Lizzi Scholarship award; and the third World Cup of Micropiles, which is an international competition to select the best micropile project in the world.
