Special Lecture on State of the Art of Micropiles in Spain at ISM’s 16th International Workshop on Micropiles

Pablo Ruiz-Terán, Ph.D., of Ferrovial Construcción, is delivering a special lecture on the “State of the Art of Micropiles in Spain” at ISM’s 16th International Workshop on Micropiles in Valencia, Spain, taking place September 24-26.

For more than 10 years, Ruiz-Terán has been working at Ferrovial Construcción, the construction division of FERROVIAL, a leading global infrastructure group. He is currently the head of geotechnics for Iberia, Latam, and other markets. He is also a professor in the Master of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering at CEDEX (Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Government of Spain).

He specializes in the design and execution of special foundations and ground improvement techniques including in-situ piles, prefabricated piles, micropiles, retaining walls, anchors, injections, jet grouting, gravel columns, vibroflotation, dynamic compaction, rigid inclusions, soil-mixing and more.

Ruiz-Terán holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Cantabria, a master’s degree in soil mechanics and foundation engineering from the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works (CEDEX), a master’s degree in tunnels and underground works from the Spanish Association of Tunnels and Underground Works (AETOS), and an Executive MBA in business management and marketing from the Higher School of Commercial Management and Marketing (ESIC).

The workshop includes lectures, discussions, panel sessions on all aspects of micropile technology, and social events. The workshop also features the 10th Lizzi Scholarship and the 5th World Cup of Micropiles.
